Position Summary
Can/Am is looking for a dedicated and thorough DevOps Engineer with at least 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, maintaining cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and release processes.
Can/Am is embarking on continued growth and expansion of our client base, and this role will be critical in ensuring our infrastructure scales reliably and efficiently to meet increasing demand. You will be a key player in supporting our Product and Implementation teams, working alongside a committed group of professionals to deliver seamless deployments and maintain high-availability systems.
You will report to the Director of DevOps and Support.

Qualifications
The candidate should be a fast learner with an aptitude for understanding and maintaining complex systems.
  •  3-5 years of hands-on DevOps experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Strong proficiency with AWS services including EC2, RDS, S3, and CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
  • Working knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, ECS/EKS)
  • Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Strong understanding of version control systems (Git) and branching strategies
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, load balancers, and security groups
  • Understanding of database administration and backup/recovery procedures
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a  focus on root cause analysis
  • Excellent attention to detail and documentation practices
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience with incident management and on-call responsibilities
  • Experience supporting SaaS applications for government or regulated industries
  • Knowledge of security and compliance requirements for government clients
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (CloudWatch, Datadog, PagerDuty, etc.)
  • Scripting experience (Bash, PowerShell)
  • Coding language experience (.NET)
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies
  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, SysOps Administrator preferred)

Key Goals and Success Criteria
  • Establish and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines with minimal deployment failures
  • Optimize AWS infrastructure for cost-effectiveness and scalability
  • Achieve high system uptime through comprehensive monitoring and proactive maintenance
  • Support Product and Implementation teams with efficient deployment processes and documentation
  • Implement infrastructure-as-code practices for repeatable, auditable infrastructure management
  • Maintain security and compliance standards appropriate for government clients
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans
  • Automate routine operational tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual errors
  • Establish clear documentation for infrastructure, deployment procedures, and runbooks
  • Implement and maintain backup strategies with regular testing of restoration procedures
  • Reduce mean time to recovery (MTTR) for production incidents through effective monitoring and response procedures
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement through post-incident reviews and iterative enhancements
